Appliance Fire

At 06:23 the New Castle County Fireboard alerted the VHC, along with Engine and Rescue 4 & 24 (Odessa VFC) and Engine 2 (Chesapeake City, MD) for a residential fire at 13 Mildred Lane. Engine 1-6 arrived and found a smoke condition in the basement. On further investaigation crews found an appliance fire that had been extinguished by the homeowner. The scene was placed under control. 

The homeowner was alerted to the fire by their smoke detectors. The VHC would like to remind all that working smoke detectors are an important part of fire safety. 

VHC Units Responding: Engine 1-6, Rescue 27, Ladder 1-7 and Tower 27.
