Sunday, January 24, 2016

The early morning hours of December 16, 2015 stations 1&27, 4&24, and 26 were alerted to a working fire on East Lake Street in Middletown.  27-8 went arrival fire showing which immediately upgraded the alarm and dispatched several neighboring companies to assist.  It was determined that the house was vacant, at which time the situation became an outside attack only.  Several hand lines were put in service as well as Tower 27, with the master stream.  While working this alarm The Volunteer Hose was also alerted to another house fire on Anderson Street in Middletown which was one block away from this fire.   Station 44 Smyrna from Kent County responded to this alarm.  The situation on Anderson Street was determined to be a dryer fire which Smyrna quickly extinguished.  The situation on Lake Street continued for several hours, it was eventually placed under control and the units returned to their respective stations.  The Volunteer Hose would like to thank all the neighboring fre companies for their assisatnce on this alarm
