Residential Fire

At 0108 the VHC, along with Engine and Rescue 4/24 (Odessa) and Engine 26 (Townsend) were alerted for a residential fire in the Millbranch neighborhood. Shortly after dispatch the call was upgraded to a working alarming, adding Stations 29 (Port Penn), 44 (Citizens Hose Co of Smyrna), 15 (Delaware City) and New Castle County Paramedics. Units arrived to find a single family home with heavy fire throughout the structure. Crews placed multiple handlines in service to protect the exposures and begin an exterior attack on the involved structure. Tower 27 was placed in service and the master stream was utilized. The bulk of the fire was quickly knocked down. Crews remained on scene for an extended time perfoming overhaul and extinguishing the remaining fire. The Delaware Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
