August 20th was the 7th annual ice cream eating contest between the Volunteer Hose Fire Department and the Middletown Police Department at Bruster's Ice Cream in Middletown.  The stage was set as both teams held (3) trophies each.  The air was warm, the ice cream was cold, the five team members sat at their respective tables.  The ice cream was delivered, (5) pint and (5) 1/2 pint containers to each table, the winner was determined by who consumed the most ice cream in a 5 minute period.  When it was all said and done, the MPD won the honors this year as the ice cream eating champion
