At around 0200 this morning, DSP Trooper 4 advised the New Castle County Fireboard that they were on scene over what appeared to be a structure fire with heavy fire showing. The VHC, along with Engine & Rescue 4&24 (Odessa FC) and Tanker 29 (Port Penn VFC) were alerted for the unknown structure fire in the area of Ratledge Road and Lorewood Grove Road. Units arrived to find a large pile of straw bales well involved in fire. The response was reduced to VHC units, which operated for several hours to insure the fire did not spread.
