The afternoon of August 28 Stations 1&27, 4&24, and 26 were alerted to a Multi Residential Fire on Vincent Circle in Middletown Village. As the first units went responding it was evident that this was a working alarm and smoke was visible in the skyline on the west side of Middletown. 27-8 unit went arrival with smoke showing from three of the five units. The alarm was upgraded to a working alarm which immediately alerted mutual aid departments. Multiple hydrants were used and multiple hand lines were put in service. Tower 27 was placed in service and prepared to flow water. Departments from New Castle County, Kent County, and Kent County Maryland worked diligently to attack the fire and extinguish it. The heat played a factor in todays incident and three firefighters had to be checked out by ALS and BLS units, with two being transported to a local hospital for further observation. The Volunteer Hose is glad to report that all fire fighters have been cleared and returned home. We at the Volunteer Hose would like to thank all the mutual aid departments that worked together today, Townsend Fire Company, Odessa Fire Company, Port Penn Fire Company, Delaware City Fire Company, Christiana Fire Company, Newark Fire Company, Smyrna Fire Company, Clayton Fire Company, Leipsic Fire Company, Galena Fire Company, New Castle County Paramedic 5 and Supervisor, Middletown Police Department, Delaware State Fire Marshal, and The Red Cross.
