January 13, 2017 at 4:14 PM, Stations 1 & 27, 4 & 24, 26, 29, 15, and Kent County Station 44 for the Ladder and Engine were alerted to a Residential structure fire in Middletown Village.  27-5 was the first on scene and reported an active basement fire.  Access was made to the home and hand lines were placed in service.  Lines were advanced into the basement and the fire was quickly extinguished.  The remaining parts of the home were checked for any extension of the fire, none was found.  The situation was placed under control and units returned to their stations
