Assist Odessa - MVC, Multiple Vehicles

Thursday, July 20, 2017

July 19, Stations 4&24, 26, 27 and 29 were alerted to a MVC on Southbound RT1 just south of the 299 exit, with a report of multiple vehicles involved.  Units responded to the scene and found three cars and a tractor trailer were involved.  The tandem trailer was on its side with the second trailer and cab were still upright, however there was a fuel leak coming from the cab as well as a large spill on the roadway.  Hazmat 30 was called for by command, crews worked diligently in the heat to assess the injured and administer care.  It was fortunate that none of the injuries were life threatening.  Three patients were transported to local hospitals, while crews remained on scene to assist in the clean up road way.
