The past several weeks, Firefighter Jess, Chief Bailey and members of the Volunteer Hose Company have been working with the kids who are participating in this years fire camp. Each week, the kids have had a chance to experience a new task related to firefighting and emergency care. Topics such as basic first aid, hose handling, hooking up to a hydrant and aerial basics have been reviewed, giving the kids a chance to get a hands on try at what is like to be a volunteer firefighter. Our goal, is to reach out to the younger kids and see if they are interested. Many continue with the Volunteer Hose Company as junior members once they reach 15 years of age, which is the minimum age requirement to join the company as a member.
