At 01:44 this morning New Castle County Fire Dispatch alerted the VHC for a reported vehicle fire involving a commercial vehicle at the 301Travel Plaza on Middletown – Warwick Road. Units arrived to find the tractor portion of a tractor-trailer heavily involved with exposure to the fuel pumps. A quick knockdown of the fire was accomplished utilizing firefighting foam. Units operated for nearly two hours for extensive overhaul and assisting MPD and the Fire Marshal. One member was transported to the Christiana Hospital for an eye injury. Units responding: Engines 1-6 & 27-5, Rescue 27, Ambulances B-1 & A-1.
