At 09:56, New Castle County Dispatch alerted Stations 7,8,9&10 (Aetna H,H&L of Newark) for an MVC on Old County Road south of Glasgow. Shortly after dispatch A10 arrived and upgraded the call to an MVC W/Entrapment. Rescue 27 was in the area performing drivers training and was added to the call as the closest rescue. Rescue 27 arrived to find a vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a utility pole, trapping the driver. After stabilizing the vehicle the crew, along with the crew from Engine 9-5, utilized the hydraulic rescue tools to remove both driver's side doors and the B post. The patient was extricated and transported by Trooper 4 to the trauma center. Rescue 27 was then cleared and returned to quarters. VHC Units Responding: Rescue 27.
